My name is Makayla Stewart and for the past six years, I have been a freelancing musician. The work I do is both rewarding and a source of personal and professional growth, and I’ve enjoyed this time immensely. More recently though, I’ve had the sense that now is the right time to move on and try something new. I’ve only been waiting for the right job to come along.
When I read about the music teacher position at Glen Oaks High School, I realized that this was exactly the opportunity I’d been waiting for!
I am confident that I can meet, and even exceed, the expectations you have on your new music teacher.
There are several factors that I believe make me a good fit for this job:
First of all, I am confident that my previous work experience makes me well suited for a job in teaching at your High School. My role as a musician has helped me grow in several key ways, and the experience I’ve gained in songwriting and composing has strongly contributed to my professional development. In addition to this, I’ve previously worked as a music teacher in various evening classes. These experiences have equipped me with the skills necessary to succeed as an educator.
Secondly, I would like to highlight the fact that my educational background meets the requirements you have for the music teacher position. I have a Bachelor’s degree in music and education from Louisiana University but I believe the schooling I’ve received from working in the music industry for several years is of greater importance.
Experience and knowledge are important aspects, but they tend to pale in comparison to having the right personal qualities. I am often described as adaptable, conceptual and creative – traits that I believe are all important to succeeding as a music teacher.
I hope that this brief presentation has given you an idea of who I am, and what I can bring to Glen Oaks High School. I feel strongly that I would be able to meet your expectations, and I look forward to being called to an interview so that I might introduce myself further.
Yours truly,
Makayla Stewart
