Motivating and organized 31-year-old ready to dig in

My name is Thomas and I am currently a fourth-year student at Duke University, where I am majoring in physics and teaching. When I read about the opportunity to work with teaching at [School], it definitely piqued my interest in the job, as well as your institution!

I’m confident that I can meet, and even exceed, the expectations you have on your new teaching assistant.

Why do I think that [School] should consider me for this job?

First of all, I have relevant work experience. During my education I’ve been working as a tutor for students on various leves. I learned a great deal and gained valuable experience in pedagogy and planning. I also feel that my experiences from other jobs I have had in the past, can be of great use to [School]. Earlier in my career, I worked as library assistant at [Library].

Secondly, I would like to emphasize my education. As I mentioned, I will be graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in physics and teaching from Duke University in the near future. Aside from the knowledge I have acquired during my studies, I have also learned how to quickly and efficiently take in and make use of new information.

Last, but certainly not least, I think that my personal traits and abilities make me the right person for this job. I am good at getting a read on various situations and adapting my communication style to suit different audiences and moods, and I know that my natural ability to lead and coach others has been appreciated by my previous employers.

Furthermore, I am organized, and energetic in my professional role.

I hope that this brief presentation of who I am has been of interest to you, and that I will be afforded the chance of an interview with you. I am convinced that I would be able to meet and exceed the [School]’s expectations of a teaching assistant, and I would relish the opportunity to prove it.

Yours truly,
