Say hello to your new colleague

My name is Joshua Campbell and I am currently majoring in mathematics and teaching at University of British Columbia. As I am looking to graduate in the near future, I have started searching for interesting job opportunities. When I read the ad for the substitute teacher position at [School], I knew right away that I wanted to apply for the job.

I’m confident that I can meet, and even exceed, the expectations you have on your new substitute teacher.

There are many reasons for this, but I would like to emphasize the following:

First of all, I feel that my professional background has prepared me well for the challenges that any substitute teacher has to face. My role as a leisure leader and tutor at [School] has meant a lot to me, and has provided me with invaluable experience in leadership and discipline.

In the past, I have also worked as a delivery driver at [Former Empolyer] and warehouse worker at [Former Employer].

I also have the right educational background to meet the requirements for the substitute teacher position. Studying at University of British Columbia has been very valuable to me in several key ways. Aside from acquiring the skills and knowledge associated with teaching and mathematics, I have also managed to build a sizable network, and have had the opportunity to participate in exciting projects, in addition to my academic coursework.

Experience and knowledge are important aspects, but they tend to pale in comparison to having the right personal qualities. I am often described as communicative, motivating and structured – traits that I believe are all important to succeeding as substitute teacher.

I hope that this brief presentation has given you small taste of who I am, and what I can bring to your team. I also hope that I will be given the opportunity to meet you for an interview, so that I may give you an even better idea of why I am the right person for you.

Best regards,

Joshua Campbell
